PCC secretary
Parochial Church Council secretary
We started the year with two Parochial Church Councils (PCC) and an elected membership of twenty five. By October we were a single parish with three churches, six wardens and an elected PCC membership of ten.
As you can imagine, during the year there were lots of formal and informal meetings in addition to PCC meetings, as we worked to bring about the unification of the parishes. We are grateful of all the time that was put in by so many people to achieve the unification and at the same time deal with the important day-to-day matters of the council.
The Annual Report and Financial Statement gives more detail of the responsibilities of the church council’s during the year and an overview of their activities.
Following the completion of the legal formalities at the end of the summer a new church council was elected in October and all members retire just prior to the Annual Parochial Church Meeting to be held in April 2008. At that meeting elections are held and the term of membership is regularised in accordance with church council policy. Members will be elected to serve for a term of three years although in the first two years one third of members will voluntarily retire and elections will be held to fill the vacancies. By year three we will be in a position where, each year, one third of the PCC is elected for a term of three years.
